Nipple correction
The appearance of the female breast is determined to a very large extent by the size and shape of the nipple and the areola. Malformations of the nipple or areola can mar the appearance of the woman affected and in some cases also cause physical problems. Retracted or inverted nipples, nipples that are too large or a mammary areola of above-average size often evoke considerable psychological stress in women – and occasionally also in men. This can be mitigated or alleviated successfully by surgical treatment. Sometimes the nipple is absent after having had to be removed in the context of a cancer operation. Sometimes there is an asymmetry of the nipples as a result of previous operations or injury.
The following precision surgical procedures or nipple corrections can be used to effectively treat many nipple problems with usually only minor and inconspicuous scarring:
- nipple reduction
- correction of inverted nipples
- nipple reconstruction
- areola reduction
If visual deficiencies are caused by breast malformations such as tubular breast deformity, nipple correction can be accompanied by a breast lift.
It is also possible to optimise the appearance of a nipple, either simply in terms of its shape, or in combination with a medical pigmentation.
