SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Ordinance

Dear patients,

as of Saturday 27 June, the new SARS-CoV-2 Infection Protection Ordinance of 23 June will be in force in Berlin.

It contains certain regulations that relate to the organisation of doctor’s practices and are also relevant for you:

Section 4 – Mouth-and-mose covering

An appropriate covering (mask) is to be worn by patients and anyone accompanying them in doctor’s practices and other healthcare institutions, provided that the medical treatment involved does not render this impracticable.

Section 8 – home quarantine for persons entering and returning to the country; surveillance

Important for the beginning of the holiday season:

Persons who come to Berlin from abroad and have been in a risk area at any time during the 14 days before entering Germany are under obligation to go home immediately after entering and remain there for 14 days.

Furthermore, the competent public health department must be contacted and informed of the situation.

For the duration of their segregation, those persons will be subject to surveillance by the public health department. In Europe, Sweden is currently among the countries considered to be a risk area. A list of the current risk areas is published by the Robert Koch Institute (RKI).

Pursuant to Section 11 (2) of the new law, acting contrary to these regulations may be punishable by a fine of up to 25,000 euros; pursuant to Section 11 (3) nos. 26-31, persons acting contrary to the regulations include anyone who, when entering or returning to the country, is in breach of his or her obligation to register or undergo home quarantine.
